Attunement
In order to attune to the glaive, the owner must either follow through with its associated
quest or be a child of Eldath's bloodline.
There are two outcomes to completing this quest - one for any good aligned creatures, and
one for lawful/neutral evil aligned creatures. True neutral creatures may choose either one.
Each attunement provides unique qualities.
The spirit of Eldath appears to the creature the first sleep after they attempt to attune to
the Glaive. She peers into the mind of the creature - gauging their moral compass.
Hook
As you reach the deepest point of your rest, you see the sign of the goddess in the darkness
of your sleeping mind. Two crescents turned upward and overlapping in the center with a thin
star that runs down the center. It appears in self-luminous red, glowing like the corona of
the sun, and burns brightly until it fades into the chimeric landscape of the space behind
your eyes. In its wake is the goddess herself - a nebulous form that tracks with your eyes
like an afterimage. A massive wound at her breast bleeds with negative space. She lowers the
Glaive to you, leveling its point at your center.
What is the nature of peace to you?
In a world of turmoil, what do you protect?
The Power of Tranquility
If Eldath deems the creature to be of a good alignment -
My guidance comes with cost. If you wish to wield my power - dedicate yourself to me by
purposefully laying down your weapon the next time you encounter a foe. Put your faith
in the power of peace.
The following combat, if the creature completes this task - they will be revisited by Eldath
upon their next sleep.
You have deemed yourself worthy child. As my dedicant, you must swear to never strike
first. Make this promise and wield me with purpose.
The Power of Order
If Eldath deems the creature to be of an evil alignment -
My guidance comes with cost. If you wish to wield my power - dedicate yourself to me by
bending a foe to my will. Make them see the value of peace.
The following combat, if the creature completes this task - they will be revisited by Eldath
upon their next sleep.
You have deemed yourself worthy child. As my dedicant you must swear to eliminate my
foes who would refuse a peaceful life with the same mercy that was shown to me. Make
this promise and wield me with purpose.
As long as a creature upholds either promise they will remain attuned to the Glaive. If at
any point they break it - they will suffer a psychic backlash, taking 5D10 psychic damage.
This can happen up to 3 times, at which point they become unattuned to the weapon which
becomes a mundane glaive whenever they attempt to wield it.
Note -
If the Glaive is awakened, there is more leeway - resetting the failure count and increasing
the limit to 5, however the backlash becomes more severe. If, at this point, the vow is
broken the creature is spurned by Eldath, taking 5D10 psychic damage. Additionally, all
creatures affected by mind altering effects as a result of the creature's power as the
Chosen are reverted back to their original states with the knowledge that they have been
manipulated.
Finally, the creature loses access to their cleric abilities until they either atone, or
seek a new patron.
